9:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Wednesday 27 November 2013

Place: UK Data Archive, Colchester.

This workshop includes on managing and sharing social science data includes planning, appraising, ingesting and documenting data. When it comes to dealing with the ever increasing commitments of research data, the UK Data Service continues to see institutions struggle with the challenges of domain specificity, in particular, how to treat social science data.

In this workshop they will showcase their collaborative support and training materials that are being used to support:

  • research support staff who face dealing with ensuring compliance with data management responsibilities set out in almost all research applications (as well as persuading them it’s the right thing to do)
  • institutional repository managers now charged with appraising, ingesting, describing and managing social science research data created by local academics.

The day includes hands-on work.

The cost including all workshop materials plus refreshments and lunch is £30 for UK Students (for UK Academic staff, ESRC researchers, voluntary and public sectors staff it is £60; and for commercial and others: £150).

For further details and booking visit the event page on the UK Data Service website.

This event precedes their annual two day  training event on ‘How to Set Up and Run a Data Service’, on 28-29th November in Essex.
