Forensic linguistics; Interpreting; Investigative interviews; Legal interpreting; Police interviewsOften in police interviews where an interpreter is present, the interviewers and interviewees address the interpreter instead of each other; occasionally they might switch from one to another (sometimes more than once) in the course of the same interview. This project aims to use naturally-occurring data to investigate, from a discourse-analytical perspective, the possible consequences of this phenomenon in terms of rapport-building and the achievement of conversational goals.
