I have designed a morphology and etymology focused Vocabulary Development Programme, which explores whether explicit teaching of word parts, word history and vocabulary decoding skill could influence pupils’ ability to comprehend complex, unfamiliar academic vocabulary at the transition from primary to secondary school.
