All day, Tuesday 13 June 2017 - Friday 16 June 2017
Place: University of Reading, Reading.
This four-day course is aimed at post-graduate students at the PhD level in the Humanities and Social Sciences who are interested in a critical understanding of how Cognitive Neuroscience methods are used, or who are interested in incorporating Cognitive Neuroscience approaches or results in their own work. It will provide exposure to contemporary neuroimaging techniques, including empirical design for electroencephalographic, and functional magnetic resonance brain imaging (EEG and fMRI, when recorded separately and simultaneously), as well as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Demonstration and training components draw on existing social neuroscience data from emotional regulation, language, decision making and learning and memory paradigms. Students are expected to have some experience in empirical research design but no prior knowledge of Cognitive Neuroscience is assumed. Limited hands-on experience with EEG/ERP, fMRI and combined EEG/fMRI techniques is provided as well as a critical survey of the associated analytic approaches.
The registration fee is £60 (and includes 4 lunches and 2 daily coffee breaks). Book by 15 May via the Reading website.
