This intensive 5-day course introduces multimodal methods for analysing communication and learning with digital technologies. Four theoretical perspectives are introduced: social action; moving image and film; design, genre and interactivity; and embodied cognition and interaction. These perspectives are explored through interactional, ethnographic, semiotic, narrative and x analysis of a range of different environments, including hospitals, schools, galleries and online platforms. The technologies explored will include digital video devices, Web 2.0 technologies, and mobile and tangible devices.
The course will be led by Jeff Bezemer, Carey Jewitt, Andrew Burn, Myrrh Domingo, Rosie Flewitt, Gunther Kress, Sara Price, Mona Sakr and Kate Cowan.
