9:00 AM - 1:30 PM, Tuesday 3 June 2014
Place: University of Essex, Colchester.
This half day course will offer PhD students practical skills to promote their research through the media (radio, TV and social media). It takes a practical and highly interactive approach. Students will think through what it takes to work with the media, start writing a blog or press release based on their own work and undertake a news style interview which will be peer reviewed by participants and by the trainers. The course is funded by the ESRC and is available to ESRC students only.
The Trainers for this course are Chris Garrington (former BBC journalist and director of researchpodcasts.co.uk) and Dr Pamela Cox (Essex ESRC DTC Impact Lead and presenter of recent BBC TWO documentary series).
