Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, established by the Japanese Government for the purpose of contributing to the advancement of science, is providing the opportunity for researchers based outside of Japan to conduct collaborative research activities with leading research groups at Japanese Universities and Research Institutions. The “Pre/Postdoctoral Fellowship for Foreign Researchers (Short Term)” is for visits of between 1 to 12 months, and fellowships must start between 1 May 2017 to 31 March 2018.

Eligible applicants need to be either within 2 years of finishing their PhD at the time of applying to start their fellowship in Japan or have obtained their PhD after 2 April 2011. Eligible research fields are not limited.
