Course Content and Aims

A session by the Welsh Government for those who may be interested in a career in government research.  The session is mainly aimed at final year PhD students who may be thinking of their next career step.  An overview of the sort of research undertaken in Welsh Government will be provided as well as details about the recruitment processes.  Recruitment will cover both the different entry routes as well as a description of the competency based assessment approach used by government.

By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • Have a broad understanding of the sort of research work undertaken within government and working in a policy environment
  • Know the different routes to apply for jobs in government research
  • Understand what constitutes relevant evidence in a competence based assessment approach

Cost

The session is free of charge and is aimed at final year social science PhD students at the Universities of Aberystwyth, Bangor, Cardiff and Swansea.  The session will be available via live stream and will be recorded.  Use the booking form below to to book a space to attend, or to receive a link to the live stream.
