The RCUK internship scheme offers a wide range of placements to ESRC funded students. Benefits include the opportunity to network and develop a range of transferable skills and knowledge.
Deadline: Thursday 10 August 2017
The Research Councils UK Policy Internship scheme provides current RCUK funded PhD students with the opportunity to spend up to three months in a non-academic organisation where they can work as part of a team involved with policy or practice development. Internships are awarded to 22 highly influential policy organisations: Parliamentary Departments, Government Departments and Non-Governmental Bodies, Learned societies and other organisations.
if successful, you will gain an extension to your ESRC award and most of the hosting organisations will provide support for travel and accommodation of up to £2,400 for the duration of the internship – where they do not, the Wales DTP will use its budgetary flexibility to support reasonable and evidenced expense of this kind, provided they are agreed in advance.
Full details of the internships available, and the application process, can be found on the RCUK website. As part of the application process, you should contact the Wales DTP no later than 31 July to discuss your application.
If you are thinking of applying for an internship, you may find David Mair’s reflections, in this three minute video, of interest. David did an internship at the Home Office under the ESRC scheme that preceded the RCUK scheme currently being advertised.
