The ESRC Student Internship scheme has been incorporated into a new scheme involving all the research councils. This scheme is very similar to the ESRC scheme, offering a wide range of placements to ESRC funded students.
Deadline: Friday 28 August 2015
The Research Councils UK Policy Internship scheme provides current RCUK funded PhD students with the opportunity to spend up to three months in a non-academic organisation where they can work as part of a team involved with policy or practice development.
ESRC funded PhD students can apply under the scheme for placements at the British Library and the Government Office for Science as well as six additional partner institutions which are offering placements exclusively to ESRC funded students (these are: the College of Policing, the Department for Communities and Local Government, the Home Office, the Office for National Statistics, Public Health England, the Scrutiny Unit and the Cabinet Office).
If successful, you will gain an extension to your ESRC award and will be able to claim for travel and accommodation costs.
Full details of all the projects open to ESRC funded students are available on the ESRC website, where you can also find the application form. Submit your application to stag@nerc.ac.uk before 4pm on the day of the deadline.
Please remember there are also internships available with the Welsh Government as part of the new Wales DTC scheme that we announced recently. You have just over a week left to apply for those – applications must be received by 31 July.
