The National Accounts Division within the National Statistics Office is holding a Roadshow event at its premises in Newport on the afternoon of Friday 15th of March between 1 and 4.30pm (times to be confirmed). The aim is to offer students studying in surrounding universities the chance to find out more about National Accounts, and indeed more about the National Statistics Office as a whole.
The event will consist of a series of short talks followed by the trade stall event. The talks will provide an overview of National Accounts and the areas of the economy that support figures such as Labour Market and Prices. Staff from the Economist branch will provide insight into their role in the process. There will also be a short talk on how to apply to work in the National Statistics Office.
Tradestalls will be held by economists and other departments like Labour Market (looking at employment and unemployment figures) who all play a vital role in producing statistics for the economy. Further stalls will be available on areas of recruitment such as sandwich placements, fast stream roles and the Recruitment and Analyst Scheme.
Current sandwich and new Recruitment and Analyst Scheme staff will be present to discuss their experiences along with fast stream candidates who will discuss their roles and possible movements between government departments.
The event – which is free – is aimed at students at all levels (Undergraduate, Masters and PhD). Those wishing to attend should email NA.Central@ons.gsi.gov.uk as soon as possible to book a place.
Up to 60 places are available. If demand exceeds the number of places available, a further event may be scheduled for Thursday 14th March.
Please email to register your interest if you are unable to attend on the 15th.
Travel information is available on the National Statistics Office ‘How to Find Us‘ page.
